We all complain from time to time, but it’s important to remember the many blessings God gives us, and to be thankful for them. This lesson explores the story of the Israelites in the wilderness. Despite their grumbling, God took care of their needs and provided manna and quail so they could have food. God provides for our daily needs, as well. He gives us each day our daily bread, and for that we can give thanks and trust Him! 

 God gives us what we need, when we need it. We ask for daily bread in the Lord’s Prayer, trusting that He will provide for us. This story recalls how God gave His people bread in the desert. But even more importantly, He gave us the Bread of Life! Jesus gives us what we need spiritually: salvation from sins and eternal life. Body and soul are taken care of because of the cross!

Passage: Exodus 16:1-26,31,35

Target Audience: Kindergarten-6th grade 

Materials Needed: Construction paper; decorative supplies; glue; markers or crayons; tape; scissors; paper plates; crackers, popcorn, cereal, marshmallows, or rice cakes; baskets or bags; empty containers; pictures of items; Bibles.
